Ways to Get Involved this Autumn!

September 17, 2024

With winter around the corner, autumn is a perfect time to take action and support Housing Justice in our mission to mobilise action on homelessness. Whether through prayer, advocacy, or fundraising, there are several ways you can get involved and make a difference in your community.

1. Join Us for Homelessness Sunday

Every year, Housing Justice hosts Homelessness Sunday, providing resources to help churches across the UK raise awareness of homelessness through their services. This autumn, we encourage you to use our materials in your worship and come together in prayer for those without a home. Homelessness Sunday is a powerful way to reflect on our Christian calling to support the most vulnerable and to inspire action in your local congregation.

Homelessness Sunday is on 6th October this year. Find out more here.

2. Take on a Challenge Event

Looking for an exciting way to fundraise? Why not sign up for a challenge event this autumn? From marathons to bungee jumps, Tough Mudders to cycle rides – there’s a challenge for everyone! Not only will you be challenging yourself, but you’ll also be raising essential funds for our work supporting those experiencing homelessness. Your efforts can bring real change to people’s lives, helping us deliver our projects, aimed at helping people find belonging.

Some of these events require you to enter with a charity and we offer discounted tickets on some events.

3. Sign Our Open Letter

This autumn, we are calling for community-driven responses to homelessness to be at the heart of the government’s new homelessness strategy. You can help by adding your name to our open letter and calling on policymakers to ensure that local communities and those with lived experience are part of the solution. Your voice matters, and together, we can advocate for a compassionate approach to tackling homelessness.
