As the Government’s Everyone In Before Christmas initiative gets underway, we’re asking a vital question: what happens next?
Voluntary, faith and community organisations provide far more than emergency accommodation. They offer practical support, build trusted relationships and help people move towards a stable home. But without suitable housing, ongoing support and sustainable funding, we risk creating a revolving door between the streets and temporary accommodation.
In our latest blog, we explore what the Rough Sleeping Programme means for the homelessness sector, why quality and dignity must come first, and why community organisations need to be part of the solution.
We’ve also published a new Best Practice Checklist for Emergency Accommodation Providers, setting out 32 criteria to help organisations review their policies, practices and procedures and identify key areas for service delivery.
