Hosts make our communities stronger

Being a Host simply means opening up your home to somebody in need.

You don’t have to be a mentor, teacher or even a companion – a spare room is all that’s required!

Our guests are linked in with specialist caseworkers & legal professionals – so all we ask from our Hosts is that they have an open mind, an open heart and a willingness to live alongside someone in the spirit of mutual respect.

About Our Hosts

  •  Over 80 people have registered to host since the project started in 2015.
  •  Our Hosts include doctors, teachers, social workers, clergy, single people, retired people, couples whose grown-up children have left the family home, LGBT couples, Families with children, homeowners, Housing Association tenants… We welcome Hosts from all backgrounds and lifestyles!
  • Some Hosts offer accommodation for 3 months, others offer up to 18 months.
  • We are a London based project and our Hosts are based in the 32 London Boroughs.
  • Every Host is unique and each hosting placement is unique.

What our hosts say

“I don’t know who’s gained more from this – us or our guest.”

“The interaction with other cultures has broadened our minds.”

“It’s been a humbling experience, we’ve got so much from our guests.”

“Our guests have been amazing people.”

Many hosts share that one of the most rewarding aspects of hosting is knowing they are making a profound difference in someone’s life. No matter how your hosting experience unfolds, rest assured you are doing just that. It’s important to manage expectations—for both your guest and yourself. By providing a safe and stable place to live during their stay, you are offering an invaluable gift.

The relationship you build with your guest will naturally reflect what feels comfortable for both of you. For some, the dynamic may resemble that of a ‘lodger,’ while for others, it may integrate more fully into the rhythms of household life.
