Refugees at risk of rough sleeping will be assessed by a homelessness professional and referred to Housing Justice who will then introduce them to a suitable resident landlord.
The project is aimed at people who have low-support needs. This includes no alcohol or drug dependency issues. The people we accept as lodgers will be looking for employment and ready to take the necessary steps needed to build their life in the UK.
Process
We want resident landlords and lodgers to have successful and fulfilling placements, so careful consideration will be given to the matching process.
There will be two opportunities to meet your potential lodger before the Lodger Agreement is signed and a move-in date agreed:
- You will meet with Housing Justice Staff and the potential lodger via Zoom for an introductory chat
- Housing Justice Staff will accompany the potential lodger for a viewing of your home with an opportunity to discuss the Lodger Agreement
- Decision on move-in will be made within 24 hours of the viewing
We aim to ensure that both resident landlords and lodgers are able to make an informed decision on the suitability of the placement. Both have the option to say no at any point during the matching process.
