Citadel Highlighted in Senedd Report on Housing Support for Vulnerable People

We’re proud that our Citadel project has been featured in the Welsh Local Government and Housing Committee’s new report on housing support for vulnerable people. Read it here.
As part of the inquiry, our Director for Wales, Nicola Evans, gave evidence to the Committee, alongside representatives from Platfform, Cymorth Cymru and Crisis.

What We’re Calling For
The panel’s evidence emphasised the need for stronger, long-term commitments from government and a shift towards people-centred approaches that reflect the realities of those most at risk of homelessness. Our key recommendations include:
🪙 Multi-year funding settlements
To provide stability and enable long-term strategic planning across the homelessness and housing support sector.
🙌 More tenancy sustainment services
Projects like Citadel show that sustained, wraparound support can transform lives by giving people the tools, confidence, and connections they need to stay in their homes.

🏘️ Increased supply of social housing
We urgently need more affordable homes to keep up with demand and reduce the number of people stuck in temporary accommodation without security or stability.
🏃♂️ Rapid rehousing pathways
We must accelerate access to permanent housing for people experiencing homelessness, ensuring safe, swift transitions into long-term accommodation.
💙 Trauma-informed, person-centred support
Support services should be holistic, inclusive, and built around the individual – treating everyone with dignity, compassion and understanding.
👩👩👧👧 A focus on community and belonging
Housing is more than just bricks and mortar. A sense of connection, human relationship, and belonging is essential to long-term housing stability.
