The work of Housing Justice Cymru ranges from preventing homelessness with our Citadel project, to supporting Church- and community-based groups with their responses to homelessness, to increasing the number of genuinely affordable homes in Wales with our flagship project, Faith in Affordable Housing (FiAH).

Citadel

We’ve updated our approach to tackling homelessness

We have moved our resources and the efforts of our 600+ volunteers upstream.

In response to the impacts of Covid-19 and the consequences for night shelters, we’re focusing on more preventative support and helping vulnerable individuals to obtain and sustain tenancies.

We’re doing this with Local Authorities and our partner organisations. This will enable us to, more effectively, help more people.

It’ll also be easier and more flexible for our volunteers. Volunteers can get involved as and when suits them, offering their time and support from an hour a week.

We help churches identify surplus land or redundant buildings, and partner them with local charitable housing associations. The project helps churches unlock finance through the sale or lease of surplus land.

This has resulted in a number of new affordable homes for rent on former church land in Wales. We support churches along the journey by facilitating meetings and acting as the honest broker in discussions. Our support for churches is provided free of charge.

Since the project was launched in 2013, there are now 30 affordable homes on former church land in south Wales. Other sites are currently in construction.

Rydym wedi diweddaru ein dull o fynd i’r afael â digartrefedd

Rydym wedi symud ein hadnoddau ac ymdrechion ein 600+ o wirfoddolwyr i fyny’r afon.

Mewn ymateb i effeithiau Covid-19 a’r canlyniadau ar gyfer llochesi nos, rydym yn canolbwyntio ar gefnogaeth fwy ataliol ac yn helpu unigolion bregus i gael a chynnal tenantiaethau.

Rydyn ni’n gwneud hyn gydag Awdurdodau Lleol a’n sefydliadau partner. Bydd hyn yn ein galluogi i, yn fwy effeithiol, helpu mwy o bobl.

Bydd hefyd yn haws ac yn fwy hyblyg i’n gwirfoddolwyr. Gall gwirfoddolwyr gymryd rhan yn ôl eu siwtiau, gan gynnig eu hamser a’u cefnogaeth o awr yr wythnos.

Rydym yn helpu eglwysi i nodi tir dros ben neu adeiladau diangen, a’u partneru â chymdeithasau tai elusennol lleol. Mae’r prosiect yn helpu eglwysi i ddatgloi cyllid trwy werthu neu brydlesu tir dros ben.

Mae hyn wedi arwain at nifer o gartrefi fforddiadwy newydd i’w rhentu ar hen dir eglwysig yng Nghymru. Rydym yn cefnogi eglwysi ar hyd y daith trwy hwyluso cyfarfodydd a gweithredu fel y brocer gonest mewn trafodaethau. Darperir ein cefnogaeth i eglwysi yn rhad ac am ddim.

Ers lansio’r prosiect yn 2013, erbyn hyn mae 30 o dai fforddiadwy ar hen dir eglwys yn ne Cymru. Mae safleoedd eraill yn cael eu hadeiladu ar hyn o bryd.
